Manchester United place cut-price for Christian Eriksen

According to reports, Manchester United decides what to offer for Christian Eriksen
Manchester

(Football news) Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Manchester United recruitment team are keen to bring in a lot of high-profile players while the squad goes through a transitional phase.

After Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna, Lille defender Leny Yoro also made the move to Old Trafford; the deals could have a combined value of more than £85 million.

But with that kind of cash commitment, Manchester United will inevitably need to cut back on spending and sell players in the last five weeks of the summer transfer window.

Despite rumours that players like Casemiro and Scott McTominay may be leaving, United hasn’t changed any of their midfield choices.

Eriksen asking price set

Eriksen is another player who is thought to have been made available for transfer, partly due to falling down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.

While the 32-year-old did feature during the final six games of the season, he did not start after the 4-0 humbling at the hands of Crystal Palace.

Furthermore, the Denmark international has less than a year remaining on his contract and is not in line to be offered a renewal.

Manchester United officials have reached the conclusion that they are prepared to sell the playmaker for just £4.23m (€5m).

With Eriksen having been signed on a free transfer in 2022, that would still represent a profit in the eyes of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Who are interested in Eriksen?

Former club Ajax are said to be one of the clubs who are considering whether to make a move for Eriksen over the coming weeks.

The Dutch giants now have Francesco Farioli in charge, the Italian tasked with trying to rebuild the team on the back of last season’s dismal campaign.

Meanwhile, Anderlecht are reportedly monitoring the situation, the hope being that regular first-team football can convince Eriksen to make the switch to Belgium.

Although Eriksen started each of Denmark’s four matches at Euro 2024, just 14 starts came for United in all competitions during 2023-24.
