(Football news) Manchester United are willing to make wholesale changes to their squad after experiencing a forgettable season on the domestic front.

Manchester United are languishing in 13th place in the Premier League table, while they were eliminated in the semi-finals and fifth round in the EFL Cup and FA Cup, respectively.

As it stands, the Europa League is the only competition preventing the season from being regarded as a complete failure.

Manchester United are set to play Lyon in the quarter-finals next month, knowing that they have to go all the way to lift the trophy if they are to secure European football next season.

Manchester United to axe 10 first-team players

Even if they clinch the Europa League, Manchester United will look to sanction departures to make room for new arrivals who should be better suited to Amorim’s system.

According to multiple sources around Manchester, as many as 10 first-team players could seal permanent exits ahead of the 2025-26 season.

There is an expectation that goalkeeper Tom Heaton and defender Jonny Evans will call time on their playing careers at the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen will become free agents when their respective deals expire this summer.

Rashford and Sancho set to depart

Marcus Rashford is expected to leave the club on a permanent basis following a breakdown in his relationship with Amorim.

The England international joined Aston Villa on loan in the January transfer window, with the deal including a £40m buy option.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho completed a loan switch to Chelsea last summer, which included an obligation to buy for between £20m and £25m.

The Blues have the option to pay a £5m penalty if they decide against signing Sancho on a permanent deal, although he is still expected to leave Old Trafford even if the Blues do not follow through with their obligation to buy.

Manchester United will seek a permanent exit for Antony following his loan spell with Real Betis, while PSV Eindhoven has the option to sign Tyrell Malacia following the conclusion of his temporary spell.

Backup goalkeeper Altay Bayindir could push for a move in a bid to gain regular game time elsewhere after making just six appearances this season.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will listen to offers for experienced midfielder Casemiro, who is out of contract at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, although there is an option to extend by a further 12 months.
