(Football news) Both strikers have failed to reach the heights expected since moving to Old Trafford, scoring just six goals between them in what has been a disastrous 2024-25 Premier League campaign.
Hojlund, who joined Manchester United from Atalanta BC for a reported £72m in the summer of 2023, has found the net just eight times in 43 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, scoring just once in his last 26 games over the last four months.
Meanwhile, Zirkzee completed a £42m transfer to Manchester United from Bologna last summer and has scored seven goals in 48 matches across all tournaments, including three strikes in 21 games since the turn of the year.
Manchester United have subsequently been tipped to strengthen their frontline this summer and bring in a prolific centre-forward, raising concerns about the long-term futures of both Hojlund and Zirkzee.
Zirkzee in, Hojlund out at Man United this summer?
Following the arrival of head coach Ruben Amorim towards the end of last year, it appeared that Zirkzee would be the most likely of the duo to leave Old Trafford, so soon after joining last summer, amid reported interest from Serie A clubs including Juventus.
However, multiple reports claim that Amorim is now planning to keep Zirkzee and Man United will instead listen to offers for Hojlund, as the Portuguese boss has re-evaluated his attacking options ahead of making major adjustments to his first-team squad.
The report adds that Amorim has faith in Zirkzee to keep improving under his management, while Hojlund is poised to be put on the market as the Red Devils are looking to ease the strain on their wage bill.
Influential figures at Manchester United are said to be disappointed that Hojlund has not lived up to his hefty price tag since arriving at Old Trafford and they have become increasingly open to cashing in on the Danish striker ahead of the new season.
Delap a leading target for Manchester United
A host of strikers from across Europe have been linked with a move to Man United and one of their leading targets in believed to be Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano, via GiveMeSport, claims that both the Red Devils and Chelsea are currently ahead of a number of clubs, including some in the Bundesliga, in the race to sign the former Manchester City striker.
After three loan stints in the Championship, Delap has been a standout performer for a struggling Ipswich side in the top flight this season, scoring a team-high 12 Premier League goals in 31 matches since completing a £20m move from Man City last summer.
It is understood that the 22-year-old could be available for around £30m this summer if Ipswich are indeed relegated to the Championship, although Man City do have a £40m buy-back clause for the striker.
