Manchester United has entered the competition for Jobe Bellingham, a midfielder for Sunderland
Manchester

(Football news) The 19-year-old has been in strong form for Sunderland during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring four goals and registering three assists in 34 appearances in the Championship, with the Black Cats currently fourth in the table.

However, even if Regis Le Bris’s side are able to secure promotion to the Premier League for the 2025-26 campaign, it is understood that Bellingham will be on the move due to the amount of interest in his services.

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Borussia Dortmund are said to be among the clubs interested in the midfielder, who is the brother of Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham.

According to multiple reports, Manchester United are also in the mix for his signature, with the Red Devils considering making a move for the teenager when this summer’s transfer window opens for business.

Manchester United ‘join the race’ for Sunderland’s Bellingham

The report claims that Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford and Nottingham Forest are also keeping a close eye on the youngster, who is set to have a number of Premier League options at the end of the campaign.

Sunderland are believed to have placed a £20m valuation on Bellingham ahead of the summer market, which would not prove to be problematic for the clubs said to be interested in his signature.

The Black Cats paid Birmingham City just £1.5m to sign Bellingham in 2023, and he has represented his current side on 81 occasions, scoring 11 goals and registering four assists in the process.

The midfielder will not turn 20 until the end of September, but he has already made over 100 professional appearances for Birmingham and Sunderland, while he has featured twice for England Under-21s.

Should Manchester United make Bellingham move?

Christian Eriksen is set to leave Man United on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, while there are also question marks surrounding the future of academy product Kobbie Mainoo.

The Red Devils would also like to shift Casemiro if an opportunity arises, so it is possible that two central midfielders could move to Old Trafford during this summer’s transfer window.

At £20m, Bellingham would represent an incredible opportunity considering his quality and potential, and Manchester United should not miss out on the chance to sign the teenager, having failed to entice his brother to the club from Birmingham before he moved to Borussia Dortmund.
