(Football news) Old Trafford is likely to go through a transitional period when Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new minority, takes charge of football operations. In addition to the many changes that are expected behind the scenes, there will probably be a number of additions and departures when it comes to on-field matters.

It is also still rumored that Ratcliffe may decide to break up with Ten Hag, who is now very unlikely to provide Champions League football in 2024–2025. With the Premier League realistically not in a position to secure an extra spot in European football’s premier competition, Manchester United must win their remaining six matches and hope that Villa do not prevail in any of their remaining four.

Progressing through to a second successive FA Cup final should have boosted Ten Hag’s position, yet the manner of their success over Coventry City only had a negative impact.

Manchester United blew a three-goal lead against the Championship outfit, only survived a last-gasp exit through the tightest of offside calls and required a penalty shootout to set up another final against Manchester City.

While the Dutchman will be in the dugout for that Wembley showpiece, it appears highly unlikely that he will enter the final 12 months of his contract. Bayern have suffered their worst Bundesliga campaigns for over a decade, being powerless to prevent a relentless Bayer Leverkusen side winning the title.

Although Bayern trail the leaders by 14 points, Tuchel has spearheaded a Champions League campaign that has led to his side reaching the semi-finals.

Last week, Bayern completed a 3-2 aggregate win over Arsenal in the last eight, setting up a clash with Real Madrid, and that was followed by a thumping 5-1 victory at Union Berlin over the weekend.

Holzner says that it remains “very unlikely” that Bayern officials will go back on their decision to reach a mutual parting of the ways with Tuchel at the end of the season.

As a result, even though Bayern lost their winning streak, former Chelsea manager Tuchel is still well regarded and is therefore free to accept other offers.

Previous reports have suggested that Tuchel would be amenable to returning to the Premier League, and a transfer to the Theatre of Dreams is unlikely to be discouraged by United’s anticipated failure to qualify for the Champions League.
