Manchester United and their rivals lacking in signing in form forward

According to reports, Manchester United and Liverpool's attempts to sign Jonathan David, a forward for Lille, may be unsuccessful

(Football news) Since moving to the French outfit in 2020, the Canada international has established himself as one of the most consistent attacking players in European football.

A total of 97 goals and 20 assists have been contributed from his 202 appearances in all competitions, an outstanding return for a player who can feature across the attacking line.

However, with less than eight months remaining on his contract, Lille are in a position where they are more likely than not to lose their star man on a free transfer in 2025.

That particularly rings true courtesy of David continuing to impress during the current campaign, scoring 13 goals from his 19 outings in all competitions.

Which club could lead the race for David?

As a result, a wide array of teams will be contemplating whether to try to sign the 24-year-old in January or attempt to negotiate a pre-contract agreement ahead of July.

Much may depend on whether Lille earns a place in the Champions League knockout stages and how they fare in their efforts to secure a place in next year’s competition through Ligue 1.

Nevertheless, according to multiple reports, Juventus may decide to try their luck with a formal bid for David during the January transfer window.

The report suggests that the Serie A outfit is prepared to offer up to €20 million (£16.56 million) in order to beat their rivals for David’s signature.

At the same time as Manchester United and Liverpool continue to monitor the situation, it is claimed that Inter Milan are also admirers.

Would Juventus be the perfect move?

Of all the clubs mentioned, David appears more likely to earn a regular starting spot in a Juventus side that has sometimes struggled to turn draws into victories this season.

Thiago Motta’s side may possess the best defensive record in the division, but they have scored 10 fewer than Atalanta BC’s division-best attacking return of 31 strikes.

Dusan Vlahovic and Timothy Weah—with six and four goals, respectively—have netted 10 of Juventus’ 21 goals in the Italian top flight.

Furthermore, no one has contributed more than three assists in the league, highlighting that there would be a place available for David on the flank or down the middle alongside Vlahovic.
