In the captivating episode, Denis Irwin and Wes Brown speak about their journeys; highlighting their illustrious days at Manchester United, their time in India, and unique insights into the culture and ethos of one of world football’s greatest clubs.

On Denis’ experience in India and watching an IPL match: 

“I came to Goa around 12-14 years ago with the Premier League trophy as a Manchester United legend, for a Youth Festival in Goa. I couldn’t believe how many football shirts were there on young fans, because I thought it was a huge cricket nation, which it is, of course, but I was quite taken aback. Cricket is an unbelievable experience, and I’ve been to an IPL game – the atmosphere was incredible”. 

While talking about the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson:

Wes Brown said, “I was lucky enough to come to a team that the manager built and was winning trophies. He always had that (winning mentality), regardless of whether we lost the season before or not. That winning mentality to go to the next season and make sure we do the business was incredible”.

Dennis Irwin added, “I think his biggest asset was his man management. Looking after players – because he’s just not looking after a player, he’s looking after the player and his family. So he cares, he’s got great empathy, he cares about his players and he looks after them, but when a time comes, where you need a little clip around the ear or something like that, he’s not afraid to do that either. That’s what made him a fantastic manager. It was his team, and his man-management that stood out.”
