Manchester City will play Brentford in EPL

When Brentford visits the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night, a dejected Manchester City will be looking to go back to winning ways right away, as the Premier League title is now officially out of their hands

(Football news) In a 1-1 tie with Chelsea on Saturday night, Pep Guardiola’s team lost their 11-game winning streak. A few hours earlier, the Bees had been crushed 4-1 by Liverpool.

Erling Haaland, who has been struggling, did not have time for close-ups of his own camera work as he bemoaned an atypically wasteful performance in Manchester City’s thrilling match against Chelsea. The team had high expectations after the thrilling eight-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge three months prior.

Former Etihad hero Raheem Sterling hit the bottom corner with style to put Chelsea ahead just before halftime, but persistent Manchester City pressure eventually paid off when a deflected Rodri sizzler rippled the top of the net. This was despite one current Man City attacker failing to find a clinical edge.

The treble winners’ efforts to convert one point into three would prove fruitless, though, condemning them to their first game without victory since December’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, which preceded an exceptional 11-match winning streak during their obligatory winter-to-spring renaissance.

The wider implications of Saturday’s result are that Manchester City are now playing catch-up in the Premier League title race in third place, and while victory would see them regain the runners-up position from Arsenal, Liverpool hold an unassailable four-point advantage at the time of writing.

As frustrating as Saturday evening was, the reigning English and European champions at least extended their unbeaten home run in the Premier League to 23 matches and their Etihad scoring streak in the top flight to 45 games, but the sky blue faithful need no reminder which team subjected them to their last Premier League home defeat.
