Manchester City’s run for a treble continues as they take on Sheffield United in a bid to reach the FA Cup finals
Man City aim for another final as they look to win the treble this season

(Football news) Wembley Stadium plays host to two FA Cup semi-finals as Manchester City face Championship promotion contenders Sheffield United. The Citizens have been subsequently beaten by Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in the last three FA Cup semi-finals, but this time around they will be confident against the Blades. Manchester City have won each of their last 21 ties against teams from lower divisions as they have scored 78 goals and conceded just 11 but a 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round loss to Wigan Athletic in February 2018 was the last time that City got beaten by a lower-league opposition.

Manchester City have beaten Chelsea, Arsenal, Bristol City and Burnley in the previous four rounds of this season’s FA Cup by an extraordinary aggregate score of 14-0, including a 6-0 quarter-final victory against Bristol at the Etihad Stadium last month. Guardiola’s men could become the first team since Everton in 1965-66 to reach the FA Cup final without conceding a goal if they manage to keep a clean sheet on Saturday. Erling Haaland is on course to reach 50 goals for this season as needs two goals to reach that landmark and considering his recent form he can do it against Sheffield today.

Sheffield United are on the cusp of promotion after getting a narrow 1-0 home win over Bristol City. But Paul Heckingbottom’s men will put Championship football to one side as they compete in their first FA Cup semi-final for nine years with the Blades seeking to pull off an almighty upset and become the first Championship team to beat a Premier club in the semi-finals since the 1991-92 campaign when Sunderland had beaten Norwich City 1-0

Sheffield United have had a difficult run to semifinals as they saw off Millwall, Wrexham, Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers in their previous rounds. The Blades head into the contest having lost each of their last five FA Cup semi-final as their most recent defeat came against Hull City where they lost 5-3 in 2013-14. Their chances for a first FA Cup final since 1936 are very slim but surprisingly in their previous four meetings in the FA Cup Sheffield have beaten Man City which provides a glimmer of hope for the Blades.
