Manchester City have not approached any player for Grealish replacement

Anthony Gordon, an attacker for Newcastle United, is apparently not something Manchester City is interested in signing this summer

(Football news) England is vying for its first major trophy since winning the World Cup in 1966, and the 23-year-old is now abroad in Germany for Euro 2024 on international duty. With an incredible season for Newcastle that saw him score 11 goals and dish out 10 assists in 35 Premier League games, Gordon was rewarded with a position in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man roster.

Many hailed the former Everton player as England’s flanking solution after Phil Foden struggled to provide the Three Lions breadth on the left during the group stage. In spite of this, Gordon has only played one minute of the goalless draw with Slovenia on June 25 for Southgate’s team during their time in Germany.

Manchester City ‘have not’ made Gordon swoop

Manchester City are not in the race to secure the services of Newcastle winger Gordon ahead of the 2024-25 season.

It had been suggested earlier this month that the Citizens had joined Premier League title rivals Liverpool in pursuit of the 23-year-old attacker.

However, the former report states that Pep Guardiola’s men have made no attempt to sign Gordon during the current summer transfer window, with a move away for the player extremely unlikely.

It is understood that Eddie Howe’s side would have to receive an astronomical offer for the winger to consider parting ways, as is the case with Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak.

The Magpies would supposedly pocket at least £75m from the sale of Gordon, who has scored 13 goals for the North-East giants since making the switch from Everton in January 2023.

What does this mean for Jack Grealish’s future?

Three years on from his £100m move from Aston Villa to Man City, Jack Grealish’s future at the Premier League champions is in doubt ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

The former Villan managed just three goals and a single assist during the Citizens title-winning campaign of 2023-24, starting only 10 top-flight matches.

As a result, Grealish was left out of England’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024, in what was reportedly a major shock to his Three Lions teammates.

With the arrival of Brazil international Savio from Troyes edging closer, the ex-Villa man could see his game time on the blue side of Manchester further restricted next season, even without the signing of compatriot Gordon.
