(Cricket news) The Afghanistan tour of Bangladesh has reached its second phase as the T20 matches will begin from 3rd March at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The stadium has been the ideal pitch for the Bangladeshi team which has seen bowlers and batter flourish against the opposition. The two T20 matches will have key players nearing their milestones in the shortest format of the game.
Mohammad Mahmudullah
The captain of the Bangladesh team is the leading run scorer in the T20 format for the side. He has so far scored 1971 runs in 105 innings, Mahmudullah is also the only one from his country to have featured in more than 100 T20 international matches and can become the first Bangladesh batter to score more than 2000 T20 runs. The 36 year old has scored 719 runs at the Shere Bangla National Stadium which is the most by any batter in a single ground in T20’s.
Rashid Khan
Rashid is the fourth highest wicket taker in the history of the format, he has picked up 103 wickets in 56 matches. The 23 year old is only 4 wickets away from equalling Lasith Malinga’s record of 107 wickets and can overtake the former bowler to become the third highest wicket taker. He is the only bowler in the top 15 wicket takers to have played less than 60 matches and has the best economy rate amongst active bowlers. The spinner has taken 12 wickets in 5 matches played against Bangladesh.
Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib has been the number 1 all rounder for the Bangladesh side in all the formats. The left arm orthodox is the highest wicket taker in the format with 117 wickets in 93 innings and has had a good record against Afghanistan in the format. He is six runs short of crossing the 1900 run mark and can become the second player from his side after Mahmudullah to achieve the feat.
Mushfiqur Rahim
Rahim is one of the most experienced players on the side, having over 400 caps and 13,000 runs in international cricket. The wicketkeeper is set to play his 100th T20 match tomorrow, he will become the second player from his side and 11th overall to have played more than 100 matches. The 34 year old is also only three dismissals away from being the second most successful keeper in T20 matches after MS Dhoni who has 91 dismissals. Rahim will also become the most capped keeper and the first one to play 100 matches for a team.
