(Cricket news) LSG are looking like a very strong unit this season. Last season they managed to make it to the playoffs and this season they will be keen to go a step further. The Indian core of this team i.e KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi all have a point to prove coming into this season. Mohsin Khan hasn’t played cricket since the last IPL due to injury so his availability is a doubt. Quinton de Kock will be on national duty at the beginning of the tournament and will be unavailable.
LSG ideal playing XI for IPL 2023:
Openers: KL Rahul & Quinton de Kock
In the absence of De Kock Kyle Mayers is likely to come in as Nicholas Pooran or KL Rahul can keep wickets. KL Rahul has been criticised a lot for the past 6 months or so. He has a lot to prove in this tournament especially as a T20 batter.
Middle order: Nicholas Pooran & Ayush Badoni
Nicholas Pooran was LSG’s big money buy this season and he will be the destructor in chief. Ayush Badoni had a decent tournament with LSG last year where he played a few cameos and even scored a good half century. This time around he will be looking to be more consistent and play big knocks if given an opportunity to bat at the top of the order.
All-rounders: Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya & Marcus Stoinis
Deepak Hooda has played a lot of international cricket since last season and he will be looking to up his game even more. Pandya will be looking to put his name back up amongst the top all-rounders in the country. Marcus Stoinis is very important for the balance of this LSG team due to his big hitting power with the bat and his ability to bowl at any time in the innings.
Seamers: Mark Wood, Avesh Khan & Mohsin Khan
Avesh Khan had a very disappointing spell with the Indian team after which he went and played decently well in domestic domestic cricket. He will be looking to stage a comeback this season with the ball. Mark Wood missed last season but now he is back and his pace will be very useful for LSG. It will be interesting to see how they end up using Wood. There are doubts over Mohsin Khan’s fitness and if he isn’t fit then Jaydev Unadkat is the perfect man to come into the side.
Spinner: Ravi Bishnoi
The wrist spinner was a part of the Indian T20 side for a long run. However before the T20 World Cup he was dropped from the team and since then has failed to get in. He will be very determined to remind everyone what he is capable of.
Bench: K. Gowtham, Karan Sharma, Manan Vohra, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Kyle Mayers, Jaydev Unadkat, Yash Thakur, Romario Shepherd, Daniel Sams, Amit Mishra, Prerak Mankad, Swapnil Singh, Naveen-ul-Haq, Yudhvir Charak.
