Liverpool will be looking to win five straight games in all competitions when they visit Kenilworth Road to play Luton Town in Sunday's Premier League match

(Football news) In midweek EFL Cup play, the Reds destroyed Bournemouth 2-1, and the Hatters in the West Midlands became the latest victims of Aston Villa, losing 3-1.

Few clubs have faced up against the Lions on their home field since Unai Emery took over at Aston Villa, and even fewer could criticize Luton for losing to the dominance of the Europa Conference League contenders in their most recent game.

Villa extended their incredible winning streak at home in the Premier League to 12 games with goals from John McGinn and Moussa Diaby. Tom Lockyer then put the ball past his goalie, but Emiliano Martinez joined him in the own-goals club in the 83rd minute.

The Hatters start gameweek 11 in 18th place and could fall lower if Burnley defeats Crystal Palace on Saturday. While Luton was being destroyed at Villa Park, Bournemouth was busy defeating Burnley for their first Premier League victory of the new season, demoting Luton below them and into the relegation places.

After starting the month with three points against Everton, the freshly promoted team managed to hold Nottingham Forest to a 2-2 draw at the City Ground, but their next four games would provide only one point. October was definitely a Halloween horror show for them.

More black marks on Edwards’s notebook came from home losses to Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur. If Luton can’t overcome the odds and contain Liverpool’s attack this weekend, they’ll become the first Premier League team to concede in all 11 of their league games since the 1994 Leicester City crop.

In the fourth round of the EFL Cup, despite Storm Ciaran’s destructive force hitting the Vitality Stadium and its environs, Jurgen Klopp’s team made sure that their numbered ball would be in the pot for the quarter final draw.

The Cherries were only on equal terms for six minutes after Darwin Nunez cut inside and fired a rocket into the roof of the net, but the Reds were temporarily made to pay for a period of careless defense when Justin Kluivert headed home at the back stick to cancel out a Cody Gakpo opener.
