Darwin Nunez was a constant danger but his finishing was once again off the mark

(Football news) Liverpool cameback from a goal down to win 2-1 at Anfield against Leicester City. Alex Oxalade-Chamberlain started for the 2nd game in a row along with Darwin Nunez and Mohammed Salah. Jurgen Klopp went with a midfield 3 of Harvey Elliott, Jordan Henderson and Thiago. Leicester City on the other hand left Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans on the bench. James Maddison was missing due to injury as Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall played as a number 10.

Liverpool once again conceded first inside 10 minutes. Drewsbury-Hall scored the goal after chaos between Liverpool’s midfield and backline. In the 38th minute Trent Alexander-Arnold played a low driven cross which found it’s way into the back of the net after a massive deflection off Wout Faes. Just before half time Darwin Nunez was one on one with Joel Ward. The Uruguayan chipped it over the keeper and hit the post but the ball hit Faes once again and went into the back of the net. Liverpool had many opportunities to make it 3-1 but they couldn’t test Ward.

The win solidifys Liverpool’s number 6 spot. They are currently a point behind Manchester United who do have a game in hand. The title may already be out of their reach but a top 4 finish is still a big possibility and new signing Cody Gakpo who will be a big boost for that. Darwin Nunez’s finishing may be off the mark but he is becoming more and more comfortable in the side. Defensively there are still a few leaks here and there which need attention.
