Jorge Messi denies rumours of Lionel joining Al Hilal

(Football News) Lionel Messi’s father as well as his agent, Jorge Messi, has denied reports that the World Cup winner has a pre-agreement in place to move to Saudi Arabia next season as his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires. Messi is out of contract in June and his future remains uncertain but thing is sure that he will leave the Parisians next season. According to Fabrizio Romano, he will leave PSG after two torrid years in France but subsequently, no one knows his next destination or club.

A switch to Saudi Arabia is not officially dead but his recent trip to Saudi along with very strong links to Messi considering a move to join Al Hilal which is the city rival of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. However, there is also interest from MLS club Inter Miami and his former club Barcelona are also very keen on bringing him back but for Barca, the move is very difficult as they have a number of financial hurdles to clear before they can make an offer to the Argentina international.

Barca need to generate money by making massive savings to be able to register new contracts and also hand new contracts to their current players. Barcelona have submitted a viability plan to the league where they intend to make cutbacks and increase revenue by mostly selling a few stars in their team possibly. Messi on the other hand returned to PSG training on Monday after being handed a two-week ban for skipping a training session to fulfil a commercial trip to Saudi Arabia.

Messi wasn’t present for the weekend’s win over Troyes, he posted an apology video on social media last Friday where he had explained the situation as his ban was reduced. Messi can make his comeback on Saturday against Ajaccio and hopefully consolidate the Ligue 1 title after some recent slip-ups which allowed Lens to close in on them. PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich in the last 16 and after their win over Troyes, they moved six points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with just four games to play.

“There is absolutely nothing [in place] with any club for next season,” he said in a statement on Tuesday. “The decision will never be taken before Lionel finishes the league campaign with PSG. Once the season ends, that will be the moment to analyse things and see what options there are and take a decision.

“There are always rumours and many use Lionel’s name to gain notoriety, but there is only one truth and it is that we can assure there is nothing [agreed] with anyone. Not verbal, not signed, no pacts. And there won’t be until the end of the season.
