Linda Caicedo Stuns with Brilliant Goal

On Matchday 17 of Liga F in Spain, Real Madrid defeated Espanyol 5-0 at home. Colombian phenom Linda Caicedo was chosen the game’s Most Valuable Player for her incredible goal and overall performance in the 68 minutes she played.

With goals by Maëlle Lakrar in the 39th minute and Athenea del Castillo shortly before halftime at 45+2, the Merengues dominated their opponents and took the lead early on.

Caicedo had an instant effect in the second half. She expertly tricked out a defender after Athenea’s superb assist in the middle, giving her the time and space to shoot sideways, leaving Espanyol’s goalkeeper Mar Segarra stranded.

Alba Redondo and María Méndez added goals in the 64th and 90+2 minutes of injury time, respectively. Caicedo had a significant role in the game, making two crucial passes, registering an outstanding 87% passing accuracy, and having a shot on goal that went in the net and another that came close.

This goal brought Caicedo’s Liga F total to four goals in her first twelve Real Madrid games.

Real Madrid now has 40 points after this victory, eight points behind league leaders Barcelona.
