(Basketball news) The Los Angeles Lakers got their 3rd win of the season as they beat the Brooklyn Nets 116-110. For the Lakers, Anthony Davis scored a season high 37 points which included 10 offensive rebounds, which tied a career-high in a regular-season game. Davis was averaging only 8.6 points in the second half, but had 21 points against the Nets, including 15 in the third quarter. Lonnie Walker IV added 25 points as LeBron James missed his second straight game due to a left adductor strain. For the Nets, Kevin Durant led the scoring with 31 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Cam Thomas came off the bench to score 15 points and Edmond Sumner added 13 points.
''I was trying to get to the paint and score inside knowing they had limited shot blockers,'' Davis said. ''If we put it on the rim then I had a guard on me and a chance to get an offensive rebound.''
''That's been the plan and figuring out how to get him more touches and in rhythm. Everything was aggressive,'' Lakers coach Darvin Ham said.
''We played in spurts tonight. It was a perfect storm for them. They made shots and got to the rim,'' Durant said.
''I knew we expended a lot of juice from the Clipper game (a 110-95 win on Saturday). The guys gave what they had,'' said Brooklyn coach Jacque Vaughn after the Nets fell to 1-3 during the second game of back-to-backs.
The Golden State Warriors remained winless away from home as they lost against the Sacramento Kings 122-115. For the Kings, Domantas Sabonis set a season high scoring with 26 points and 22 rebounds while De'Aaron Fox scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter as Keegan Murray had 21 points, hitting five 3-pointers, Kevin Huerter made four 3s and scored 17 points and Malik Monk added 12 points off the bench for the Kings. For the Warriors, Stephen Curry scored 27 points while Andrew Wiggins had 26 points and Klay Thompson had 17 points with seven rebounds. Draymond Green added 11 assists, seven rebounds and six points.
''It felt good,'' Sabonis said. ''Finally we finished the game and finished the quarter.''
''Domas was a monster,'' Kings coach Mike Brown said. ''He was a monster in the paint. He was a monster on the glass. You need games like that from your stars in order to get over the hump from time to time.''
''We're all bought in,'' Murray said. ''We know we can compete with any team in the league.''
''I thought they just outplayed us,'' Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. ''Give them credit. Sabonis dominated the game … Murray made some big shots and Fox got hot.''
