(Basketball news) The LA Clippers improved their squad as both their backcourt and frontcourt depth improved in a flurry of moves on the trade deadline. Denver Nuggets young point guard Bones Hyland and Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon both were traded to L.A. in separate deals according to Adrian Wojnarowski. The Clippers also added center Mason Plumlee from the Charlotte Hornets.
Denver on the other hand are receiving second-round picks in 2024 and 2025 for Hyland, Gordon who was involved in a three-team trade that saw the Grizzlies receive Luke Kennard for three second-round picks to the Clippers, while Danny Green is headed from Memphis to Houston. John Wall will be back to Houston as well. The Rockets acquired the rights to swap the Bucks’ first-round pick which they own with the Clippers’ first-round pick in the upcoming draft.

The Golden State Warriors have traded their number 3 pick in James Wiseman to the Detroit Pistons as part of a multiteam deal that saw Saddiq Bey to the Atlanta Hawks and Gary Payton II from the Portland Trail Blazers went back to the Warriors. The Hawks have sent five second-round picks to the Warriors to acquire Bey. While forward Kevin Knox was traded from the Pistons to the Warriors, who then traded Knox and the five second-rounders to the Trail Blazers for Payton. The Warriors now have saved roughly $7 million in taxes this year after the trades and have around $30 million cap space in 2023-2024 off season.

The Los Angeles Lakers weren’t finished with their trades after getting D’Angelo Russell as they traded center Thomas Bryant to the Denver Nuggets for Davon Reed and three second-round picks as the big man requested a trade from the franchise. L.A received Denver’s second-round picks in 2025, 2026 and 2029. The Lakers also replaced Bryant with Mo Bamba, who they got in a trade with the Orlando Magic for Patrick Beverley, a 2024 second-round pick and cash considerations. The Magic announced that Beverley won’t be required to report to the team which opens the door to a buyout.
