(Football news) After drawing the La Liga match against Almeria, Atletico Madrid won their Copa Del Rey tie against Levante. Now they will be hosting Real Valladolid in the league. Diego Simeone has played a very strong XI against Levante which may affect the fitness of some of the players. Atletico Madrid are currently 7 points behind Real Sociedad at 4th place while Villarreal and Real Betis are level on points with Atletico.
Memphis Depay is in the squad and is likely to make his debut for the Rojiblancos. Sergio Reguilon and Stefan Savic are suspended while Jose Gimenez is not in the squad. Valladolid are just out of the relegation zone on the La Liga table and they will be looking to take something from this match.
Barcelona will be high on confidence after their Spanish Super Cup win. They also beat AD Ceuta FC in the Copa Del Rey 5-0. Now they have a league game at the Nou Camp against Getafe. Barcelona are currently top of the table but Real Madrid are just 3 points behind. They will be without their talisman Robert Lewandowski who is still suspended as is Ferran Torres.
Now that Memphis Depay has joined Atletico Madrid, they don’t have a proper number 9 which means that Ansu Fati may have to play there. Getafe is one of the 4 teams level on points just outside the relegation zone on the La Liga table and they will be looking to pull off a massive upset.
Real Madrid after a disappointing period defeated Villarreal in the Copa Del Rey as they came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2. Now they will be looking to carry on the momentum of that 2nd half performance as they travel to Bilbao. Athletic Club are currently 8th on the La Liga table but they haven’t won a league game since the World Cup.
Los Blancos need to get some momentum and consistency and San Mames is the perfect place to win at and make a statement. Real Madrid are still missing Lucas Vazquez, David Alaba, Aurelien Tchouameni and Dani Carvajal. Luka Modric on the other hand will be back after being rested midweek. Athletic Club on the other hand will be without Yeray Alvarez while Inigo Martinez is a doubt.
