Kohli hits 50th ODI century as India Beat New Zealand by 70 Runs.

(Cricket News) In the first semi-final of the Cricket World Cup 2023, India amassed a magnificent 397 for 4 in 50 overs, thanks to a masterful display at the bat from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. On Wednesday, November 15, at Mumbai’s legendary Wankhede Stadium, India will play a rematch of the 2019 World Cup semifinal after winning the toss against New Zealand and choosing to bat first. Mohammed Shami later claimed seven wickets to give India a 70-run victory.

With nearly every ball hit on the day, Rohit Sharma gave the squad the ideal start. Shubman Gill seized the baton and struck sixes and fours after he left the field due to cramps. However, Iyer entered the game and began making massive sixes. By reaching his 50th ODI century, Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most hundreds in ODIs. India set the highest target in an ICC knockout match (397-4) and it would take an effort and a half from the New Zealand batsman to chase it down.

It was the Mohammad Shami show, as he took the best figures for an Indian bowler in an ICC event, surpassing Ashish Nehra’s 6-23 against England in the 2003 World Cup. Shami opened his account by dismissing the two openers. A hundred run partnership from Williamson and Mitchell saw the game tilt towards the Kiwis, but it was none other than Mohammad Shami who got the breakthrough.

New Zealand were all out for 327 as India marched onto the finals. This is India’s first final in an ODI World Cup since the 2011 World Cup and they will be keen to add a third Cricket World Cup trophy to their cabinet.
