(Cricket News) In his 95th Test match, Williamson achieved his 29th century in the format, 26 fewer than the legendary Don Bradman, who at the time of his retirement had 29 centuries from 52 Test matches.
The former captain of New Zealand reached his ton in 189 balls before losing his wicket to Taijul Islam, who scored 104 of 205 deliveries. This was also Williamson’s fourth consecutive century in Test cricket, following those he achieved against England and Sri Lanka earlier this year.
In addition to being the highest run scorer in the test format with the most centuries to his credit, Williamson made his debut for New Zealand in 2010. Bowlers from Bangladesh chipped in early on Day 2 to restrict the top three Kiwi batsmen to just 98 runs on the board.
Williamson and Daryll Mitchell batted patiently and added runs to the total, but after a strong 66-run partnership, Mitchell lost his wicket, scoring 41, to Taijul Islam, who later in the day claimed four crucial wickets. Williamson, after reaching his century, was bowled out to Islam as New Zealand struggled to score runs.
