(Cricket news) India women won the 2nd ODI against England by a mammoth 88 runs to seal the series. It was an incredible performance by the Indian side in the ODIs as they are on course to give a perfect farewell to Jhulan Goswami. The pressure will be off in the next match at the legendary Lord's stadium as the series is already won. England were missing 3 key players but despite that they will be disappointed with their underwhelming performance. The ODI series win was Indian women's first on English soil in 23 years. Amy Jones won the toss and put India into bat first as England made two changes by replacing Isy Wong and Alice Davidson-Richards with Freya Kemp and Lauren Bell. India also made two changes by bringing in Dayalan Hemalatha and Renuka Singh Thakur for Sneh Rana and Meghna Singh.

Batting first, India lost Shafali Verma early but once again Smriti Mandhana and Yastika Bhatia took control. Mandhana got out after scoring 40, she completed 3000 ODI runs in the process. The left hander became the fastest Indian women and the 3rd fastest Indian after Virat Kohli Shikhar Dhawan to reach the mark. After losing Bhatia and Mandhana, Harleen Deol and Harmanpreet Kaur lead India to a total of 333. Deol scored 58 off 72 balls which was her first ODI half century. Her innings included 5 fours and 2 sixes as she provided perfect support for her captain Harmanpreet Kaur. The Indian skipper led from the front and played a knock for the ages that destroyed the England bowlers. Harmanpreet Kaur scored an unbeaten 143 off 111 balls hitting 18 boundaries and 4 maximums. Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma fired at the end as India put on a mammoth total for England to chase.

England never looked in the chase as the asking rate was constantly rising up. Dani Wyatt with her 65 off 58 was the only batter who looked up for it while Amy Jones and Charlie Dean also played small cameos. India's bowlers bowled really well throughout the innings. Renuka Thakur continued her incredible form as she got 4/57 in her 10 overs. Dayalan Hemalatha picked up 2 wickets while Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma got a scalp each. It was a very convincing performance by India as they started a new era in one day cricket without Mithali Raj. Jhulan Goswami's retirement is also going to leave a big hole but Renuka Singh Thakur is showing great promise of being the perfect replacement.
