(Sports news) In the semifinals of the 2018 Asian Games in Hangzhou on Friday, the Indian women’s squash team fell to Hong Kong, China, 1-2, earning bronze.
Tanvi Khanna’s three-game loss against Sin Yuk Chan in just 22 minutes put India on the back foot. The games ended in scores of 6-11, 7-11, and 3-11. The second match, against Tze Lok Ho, was decided by scores of 7-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, and 11-8, with Joshna Chinappa restoring parity in a five-game thriller.
Anahat Singh lost to Ka Yi Lee in the final by scores of 8-11, 7-11, and 10-12, despite her best efforts. When Anahat scored six points straight to extend the third game, it appeared as though she may pull off an incredible comeback, but Lee ended the game.
With this bronze, India moves up to fourth place with 31 medals overall, including eight golds.
