(Cricket news) Hosting JioCinema’s sports show ‘#AAKASHVANI’, JioCinema and Sports18 expert, Aakash Chopra, explained why India opted to rest fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the fourth Test against England in Ranchi starting on Friday; why English batsman Ben Duckett shouldn’t claim credit for opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance; and why England skipper Ben Stokes should rethink his views on doing away with the umpire’s call during DRS.

On Jasprit Bumrah being rested for the Ranchi Test: It was on expected lines. That’s because there was talk that he would have been rested for the third Test in Rajkot itself. He has bowled 80 overs in the series, but then he’s also coming back from an injury and work-load management has been put in place. He will be needed for the fifth Test at Dharamsala. May be, his absence from Ranchi is ok. That’s because the pitch at Ranchi is spin-friendly. There’s not much pace there. In fact, the last time India played Australia there, the game ended in a draw. It’s possible that India will play four spinners and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. They have not been able to accommodate Axar Patel, so may be, they’ll play him.

On England batsman Ben Duckett claiming credit for the aggression shown by Yashasvi Jaiswal: Former England captain Nasser Hussain had the perfect riposte, so I would request Duckett not to take any credit.

On England skipper Ben Stokes’ views of doing away with the umpire’s call during DRS: He did not like the decision against Zak Crawley. I’d like to ask him why he does not want it? It is there to save a batsman, it does not harm them. Just think about it. If the umpire has ruled you out, you have a grouse that you were given out and the umpire’s call was also showing out. There are times when the umpire’s call will give you a reprieve. So, I am not sure what Stokes is asking for. It’s like a death wish since you don’t want something that may also help the decision go in your favour.
