India look to level series against South Africa in Ranchi

(Cricket news) After a thrilling win in the 1st ODI, South Africa have a chance to win a back to back ODI series against India. The Proteas whitewashed a strong Indian side at the beginning of the year in South Africa. Now they have a chance to win a series against a considerably weaker India 'B' team in India. The rain affected the first match was pretty close but India will be disappointed with their performance. They will have to make changes as the main concern will be the long tail and the absence of a 6th bowling option.

India's possible playing XI:

Shikhar Dhawan (c), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson (wk), Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan

Bench:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajat Patidar, Rahul Tripathi, Mukesh Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi

Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the series with an injury, Washington Sundar has come in his place. Sundar is likely to go straight into the line-up for Bishnoi to get India a deeper batting line-up.  Shahbaz Ahmed should come into the side to give an extra bowling option. Ruturaj Gaikwad just made his ODI debut but for the team combination to work better he will have to make way. Sundar’s addition to the side is going to be very key as he gives India a finger spinner and a reliable batter at number 7. It will be unfortunate for both Bishnoi and Gaikwad but with the series on the line the management will have to be brutal.

South Africa possible playing XI:

Janneman Malan, Quinton de Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi

Bench:

Andile Phehlukwayo, Anrich Nortje, Reeza Hendricks

South Africa are likely to retain the same line-up as it is incredibly balanced. Anrich Nortje could come into the side but he hasn't been in good form lately. A big innings from Temba Bavuma is long overdue and if he fails to get runs in this series then his place in the side will be in danger for sure. The spin duo of Maharaj and Shamsi will once again be the key for the Proteas.
