The ICC revealed that eight different countries are represented in the T20I categories. Ellyse Perry is one of the female prospects while Suryakumar Yadav, the champion last year, is again nominated.

(Cricket News) Following an exciting year of competition in the shortest format, eight different nations have been nominated for the T20I categories, highlighting the wide spread of talent across the global game.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the first four shortlists in the ICC Awards 2023, highlighting the outstanding performers in contention for the Men’s and Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Awards, as well as the Emerging Men’s and Women’s Cricketer of the Year Awards.

After winning the title in the same category in 2022, India’s Suryakumar Yadav is in the running for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award once again. This year, Yadav, who is ranked first among T20I batters, will face Mark Chapman of New Zealand, Alpesh Ramjani of Uganda, and Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe.

In other areas, a plethora of promising new talent made their debut in 2023, leaving us with unforgettable performances at major tournaments like the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Four outstanding up-and-coming players in women’s cricket are nominated for the ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year category: Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield, England’s Lauren Bell, Bangladesh’s Marufa Akter, and Scotland’s Darcey Carter.

ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Nominees: Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Hayley Matthews (West Indies), Ellyse Perry (Australia).

ICC Emerging Men’s Cricketer of the Year Nominees: Gerald Coetzee (South Africa), Yashasvi Jaiswal (India), Dilshan Madushanka (Sri Lanka), Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand).

ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year Nominees: Marufa Akter (Bangladesh), Lauren Bell (England), Darcey Carter (Scotland), Phoebe Litchfield (Australia).
