(Cricket news) Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got their campaign off to a winning start in the TATA IPL 2024, with a six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. JioCinema IPL experts Suresh Raina and Zaheer Khan highlighted performances from Mustafizur Rahman (4/29) and Rachin Ravindra (37 runs). CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube, meanwhile, also spoke exclusively on ‘Match Centre Live’.
Shivam Dube spoke exclusively to JioCinema about playing under new CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad: “It’s really fun because I have played under him before. I know what kind of a captain he is, how he behaves, and what he expects from me.”
Shivam Dube on Bengaluru employing pace bowlers against him: “It’s fine (facing bouncers) because it helps me practice. I’ll take it positively and try to improve my game.”
Shivam Dube on MS Dhoni handing the captaincy to Gaikwad: “I found out two days ago and I was shocked. I think he’s handed it to the perfect person. Ruturaj is quite like Dhoni, very cool and calm.”
Zaheer Khan, JioCinema IPL expert, on Mustafizur Rahman’s performance: “This was a turbo-charged performance. He took two wickets in one over and absolutely changed the match. And from there, on this pitch, it was the perfect setup for him. Three wickets had fallen, you know it gets difficult in the middle overs and think you need to conserve wickets, you start thinking like that. I think that affected Virat Kohli’s batting as well. He didn’t play many deliveries in the powerplay. If you look at the game from that lens, the bowler that brought Chennai into the game was Mustafizur.”
Suresh Raina, JioCinema IPL expert, on Rachin Ravindra’s IPL debut: “I was very impressed. He maintained momentum with Ruturaj, hitting boundaries whenever required. His intent was clear that when you’re chasing a big total, the powerplay is crucial. His bat didn’t stop whenever he had the opportunity to add boundaries. The way he is batting, a left-right combination will always frustrate the opposition’s bowling.”
