According to Thierry Henry, a former Barcelona striker, it was former manager Xavi, not current manager Hansi Flick, who ushered in the club’s new era.
The Catalans are thriving under their German coach, who took Xavi’s place in the summer, but Henry believes Xavi should take some of the credit for Barca’s comeback.
Hansi Flick didn’t, in my opinion, usher in a new era at Barcelona. Flick is carrying on Xavi’s actions, which were initiated by Xavi. With numerous players present, Xavi made Cubarsí’s debut with Lamine Yamal. “Flick came and Xavi went,” he stated on CBS Sports.
“I believe that this team, after two years of playing together and a challenging final season, helped the younger players learn and develop their character and acting skills.”
Following Wednesday’s 5-2 victory over Red Star Belgrade, Henry also believes that Barcelona is among the favorites to win the Champions League this season.
He went on to say, “This team has to be regarded as one of the favorites to win the Champions League.”
“To understand how difficult it is, you sometimes have to lose a quarterfinal or semi-final, but I believe they are headed in that direction.”
Barcelona is presently sixth in the Champions League standings, although they still have games against Atalanta, Brest, Borussia Dortmund, and Benfica.
