(Cricket news) India defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets with 16 balls to spare in the 2nd T20I to seal the series. New Zealand were once again put into bat first by Rohit Sharma. The Kiwis could only manage 154 which was comfortably chased by India.
New Zealand started off really well as they were 48 for no loss after just 4 overs. Martin Guptill unlike in Jaipur started to attack right from the front scoring 31 off 15 before Deepak Chahar once again got rid of him. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips both got past 30 before being picked up by debutant Harshal Patel. The Black caps couldn't manage to get clean hits through. A lot of the aerial efforts didn't even make it to the fielders in the deep but dropped short instead. Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Axar and Ravichandran Ashwin all picked up a wicket each while Harshal Patel got 2 scalps.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul engineered India's chase in grand fashion. The skipper and his deputy put together 117 runs before Rahul got out on 65. Venkatesh Iyer was promoted to no. 3 and scored a composed unbeaten 12 off 11. Rohit Sharma scored 55 runs while Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed cheaply. Tim Southee picked up all three wickets as he finished with the figures of 3/16. Rishabh Pant hit back to back sixes to finish off the game and wrap up the series in style.
The 3rd T20I in Kolkata presents a great opportunity for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to test out Ishan Kishan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Avesh Khan who haven't played a game yet. New Zealand will look for a consolation win while India will definitely be aiming for a whitewash.
