(Football news) Nottingham Forest are close to an agreement with Gustavo Scrapa on free transfer as they add yet another fresh face to their squad in the new year. Forest took their place front and centre in the headlines on the transfer market this summer. This came upon the powers at the City Ground adding to the options at the disposal for boss Steve Cooper as it is nothing short of remarkable. After sealing a long-awaited return to the Premier League by virtue of the Championship playoffs, the Garibaldi brought a whopping 22 new players over the course of the summer transfer window.
Though the club’s campaign has since proven an underwhelming affair, Forest are not yet ready to call time on their reinforcement project. As per Fabrizio Romano, the board have reached a full agreement with the representatives of Palmeiras star Gustavo Scarpa. Scarpa, who recently turned 28-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder, is therefore ready to put pen to paper on a contract with Forest, tying him to the club through the summer of 2026. The midfielder joined Verão in 2018 and had a very successful season as he won two Brazilian leagues, one Brazilian cup and two Copa Libertadores. It was only in 2022, that Scarpa actually reached his peak as he was awarded the best player of the season with 12 assists and 7 goals.
His arrival in England will be made official in the January transfer window, when Scarpa’s contract officially ends. The player covered his departure on Instagram, posting a picture of himself at the airport, making it clear he’s now going to England. “Can I start now????? Gratitude for everything that has happened in my life. God is too good!! Thank you, from the heart, for all your affection and respect. Dream challenge!!! Let’s go.”
