43-year-old Frank Nsubuga in Uganda squad for 2024 T20 World Cup

(Cricket News) Frank Nsubuga, a 43-year-old off spinning all-rounder has been added in the Uganda squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup starting in the USA and Caribbean next month. Nsubuga will become the oldest player to be a part of this global event. He will be ahead of Oman’s Mohammad Nadeem and Naseem Khushi who played at the age of 41.

This is going to be Uganda’s first-ever appearance at the T20 World Cup. As the side lead up to their historic feat, they have announced their squad of 15 to compete against the world. Uganda reached their first-ever senior world cup beating Rwanda and finishing in the top 2 at the ICC Africa T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Namibia was the other side along with Uganda to be in the top 2 at the Africa qualifiers. They were the two teams to make it to the 2024 T20 World Cup from the Africa leg of the qualifiers, ahead of teams like Zimbabwe.

Uganda has named a strong side for the World Cup which will be led by Brian Masaba. Riazat Ali Shah has been named as Masaba’s deputy, while Ronald Lutaaya and Innocent Mwebaze are the two travelling reserve players.

Uganda are placed in Group C at the 2024 T20 World Cup, along with Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the hosts West Indies. They will kick-start their campaign against Afghanistan in Providence, Guyana on the 4th of June.

Reserve players: Ronald Lutaaya, Innocent Mwebaze
