(Motorsport) Red Bull Racing will reveal their 2023 car called RB19 in New York City on February 3rd, becoming the first team on the Formula 1 grid to do so (as things stand). The RB18 was without a doubt the most dominant car in F1 during the 2022 season, ending Mercedes’ dominance in the Constructors Standings and helping Max Verstappen successfully defend his crown. Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri will also launch their 2023 car in New York, but eight days later.
“The 3rd February is set to be our biggest launch yet, in the city that never sleeps, New York. Not only is this going to be the first Formula 1 season launch to take place in the US, we’re also planning to make it the greatest in F1 history.” – Red Bull said in a statement
Such was Red Bull’s dominance that they finished the season 205 points ahead of Scuderia Ferrari and Verstappen’s performances helped the team begin development for the 2023 car in advance. However, Red Bull will also need to cope with the loss in development time due to breaching the cost cap in 2021, which might give Ferrari and Mercedes the opportunity to close the gap. While 2023 does not feature drastic rule changes for the cars, there are some minor changes such as a higher ride height to avoid porpoising and improve performance.
