(Motorsport) Mercedes will launch their 2023 Formula 1 car known as W14 on February 15th at Silverstone. The Silver Arrows are the seventh team on the grid to confirm their launch date and will be looking to see a big improvement in the W14 after a disappointing season last year. Mercedes saw their eight consecutive Constructors Championships finally come to an end with the W13 suffering from speed and porpoising issues, to the extent that seven time World Champion Lewis Hamilton failed to win a single race throughout the season.

“The team’s 2023 season will burst into life on Wednesday 15 February. The Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE, forged from the challenges of the testing 2022 campaign, will break cover at a special digital launch event broadcast live from Silverstone. The 2023 car builds on the lessons learned from last year, which forced the team to confront and overcome numerous challenges with the W13. The progress enabled by the efforts and determination of everyone at Brackley and Brixworth helped achieve stronger results from mid-season onwards, culminating in a 1-2 finish at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.” – Mercedes said in a statement

Mercedes had a very disappointing first half of the 2022 season but they gradually caught up with competitors Red Bull and Ferrari in the second half. However, Ferrari ended the campaign 39 points ahead of the Silver Arrows while Red Bull finished a mammoth 205 points with Max Verstappen successfully defending his Drivers Championship. Hamilton will hope that the 2023 car will be a drastic improvement on the W13 as he continues to look for a record breaking eighth World Championship. Only Red Bull, Alfa Romeo and Haas are yet to reveal their 2023 car launch dates and with pre-season testing beginning from February 23rd to 25th in Bahrain, it’s expected to be sooner rather than later.
