(Football news) The recently conducted ‘Kings of Corporates’ football tournament organised by Kalina Rangers in partnership with Decathlon was organised on the 19th and 20th of November at Decathlon Turf, Kurla. The tournament was an enthralling affair, with corporates from all over Mumbai participating to showcase their footballing skills, camaraderie and passion for the sport ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. WNS-A were crowned winners of the tournament, with Indigo securing the Runners-Up position and Adfactors PR in their first ever corporate tournament, bagging the Third Place.
A total of 9 teams competed for the coveted “King of Corporates” trophy over the span of two days, with the teams being divided into groups of three. The teams were allowed five starting players and five substitutions. Depending on their position in the group, the teams were then allocated into three leagues – Premier League, Championship and League Cup.
The 1st Place teams of each group qualified for the Premier League, the 2nd place teams of the group qualified for the Championships and the 3rd place team qualified for the League cup. Each team who qualified for the three leagues then battled it out to be crowned champions of their respective leagues.
Adfactors PR Football Club (AFC) had a remarkable group stage and finished table toppers with wins against WNS-B, Anunta Tech and a draw against Indigo. The team finished in third place after falling short to WNS-A in the knockout stages. Adfactors PR FC had some stellar performances from their players, with the whole team pitching in to bring laurels to the firm. The most note-worthy performances of the tournament came from Noel Gomes, Dion Menezes and Marcelo Azavedo, who won Man of the Match awards for AFC.
