(Football news) The World Cup witnessed arguably its most exciting match at the Ahmed Bin Ali stadium. Wales and the USA went head to head in the 2nd match of Group B and drew 1-1. In the earlier Group B fixture, England had dismantled Iran 6-2 in emphatic fashion. The three lions were always outright favorites to win the group while USA and Wales were supposed to compete for 2nd place. However after the quality on display in yesterday's match both teams can give England a tough time. It was a game of two halves as USA completely dominated the first half as Timothy Weah scored from Christian Pulisic's cross. Wales played much better in the 2nd half and were rewarded after Gareth Bale won and converted a penalty.
Wales went a bit too defensive with their starting line-up. They went with a 5 at the back formation with Ethan Ampadu as a defensive midfielder. The British side didn't manage to get any sort of control in the first half. The US were very aggressive as they fought for every second ball and flew into some hard tackles. Pulisic on the left wing was brilliant as he was causing Wales a lot of trouble. Right back Sergino Dest was also very good in attack and defense. Wales were struggling to get the ball to their striker and Talisman Bale while Aaron Ramsey had to come very deep to get the ball.
That all changed in the 2nd half with the introduction of Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore at half time. Moore did exactly what he was brought on to do as he held the ball and brought others into play. Wales got more and more into the game. Wales’ next match is against Iran where they need a big result to better their chances of qualification. They might have to rethink their approach and tactics as it looked too defensive to start with. Moore has definitely made a case for himself that he should be starting the next games. The US on the other hand will have to be at their absolute best against England. They cannot afford to switch off at any time because Gareth Southgate's men will punish them.
