(Football news) Sadio Mane has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich as the transfer saga looks like it's coming to a close. With Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez it looks like Sadio Mane will most likely join the defending Bundesliga Champions. The German reports have reported that the Bavarians are yet to submit a third bid to sign the Senegalese attacker having already seen their two previous offers rejected. Talks with his agents went well as personal terms don’t seem to be a problem. Liverpool are staunch on their asking price and aren’t budging away from it.
Bayern on the other hand are close to losing their record goal-scorer Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona this summer, and it appears that they have identified Mane as a replacement for the Polish hitman. Bayern are holding internal discussions with Liverpool and hope to satisfy their demands especially for a player who has one year left on his contract. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić intends to fly to Merseyside to hold crucial talks with the Liverpool hierarchy. The Bundesliga giants are hoping to secure a deal swiftly as that way they can let Lewandowski leave the club
Bayern’s opening £21m [€25m] bid was swiftly rejected by Liverpool also they rejected the second follow-up offer worth £30m [€35m] including add-ons, with the Reds wanting around £38m [€45m] for Mane’s signature. The Liverpool hierarchy believe that Mane is a world-class player and should get a sizable transfer fee, despite having only one year left in his current contract. Mane shocked the world when he announced he’s going to leave Liverpool after the UEFA Champions League final loss. The player is keen on a new challenge at age 30 and refused to commit his future with the Reds beyond 2023.
Bayern intend to replace Lewandowski with Mane as the Polish striker has been very vocal about his desire to leave Munich this summer and his departure is looking imminent. Though first Barcelona need to sort their finances out, but once that is done then only a matter of time before they sign him. Lewandowski will leave the club scoring 344 goals for the German giants since his arrival in 2014. He has won the Bundesliga in each of his last eight seasons at the club. Mane is not expected to reproduce the same goalscoring numbers as Lewa but he is a top class replacement. Julian Nagelsmann will relish the opportunity to manage the AFCON winner Mane as he will use him as centre forward with the licence to play in and around the midfield and wings. With Serge Gnabry also set to leave, Bayern might as well buy a striker and shift Mane to the right wing position.
