(Football news) Romelu Lukaku has had a dreadful time at Chelsea. After just one season with the London club the striker is reportedly keen on a move away from Stamford Bridge. His former club Inter Milan is said to be the likely destination but the transfer would be very difficult to pull off as Chelsea bought Lukaku for £97.5m. The transfer has been a disaster for Chelsea on and off the field. If Lukaku leaves in this transfer window, Chelsea are definitely going to lose money.
Lukaku in his own words was rescued by Inter Milan from a disastrous time at Manchester United. The Belgian enjoyed a lot of success with the Nerazzurri under manager Antonio Conte. Inter were having financial troubles because of which Conte left the club. Lukaku agreed a deal to join Chelsea and in his first interview he said that Chelsea is the only club he would've left Inter Milan for. Lukaku started the season very well but soon slowed down due to injuries among other things.
He had a few decent performances last season but was frustrated with injuries and inconsistencies among other things. Lukaku in an Italian interview said that he was not content with the situation at Chelsea and didn't like Thomas Tuchel's tactics. In the interview Lukaku said by saying that he always thought he would go to one of the best clubs in the world like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich after Inter Milan which isn't what he said in his first interview with Chelsea.
He also talked about going back to Inter Milan one day and said multiple times how much he loves the club. The striker also said that he left the club due to theor financial crisis and had he got his desired contract a move away wouldn't even be an option. Lukaku also stated that he had a chance to join Manchester City and Juventus but rejected both times. Ever since then it has been a tough ride for Lukaku who has struggled for game time.
Even when he has played his performances have been extremely underwhelming. Any transfer in the summer is likely to be a loan where Chelsea might have to pay a part of his wages. If Lukaku does end up staying then he will have to do a lot of work to gain Tuchel's trust again. His fitness will also have to be up to the mark.
