(Football news) After an incredible start to the season, Real Madrid have stumbled after the international break. They lost their last UCL game to RB Leipzig and went on to draw at home against Girona at the weekend. The presence of Karim Benzema was definitely missed as the Frenchman has been troubled by injuries a lot this season. Carlo Ancelotti's men have an opportunity to get back on track as they host Celtic. A win will guarantee top spot in the group for Real Madrid but anything less could push them down to 2nd place depending on RB Leipzig's result. Celtic have nothing to play for as they are guaranteed to finish rock bottom. However it isn't everyday a club gets to play at the legendary Santiago Bernabeu therefore Celtic and their fans will be looking to enjoy the occasion.
Karim Benzema hasn't trained with the team but he is included in the squad. The Frenchman is likely to be on the bench and will only be used in case of an emergency. Aurélien Tchouaméni is yet to recover from his muscle fatigue while Eden Hazard is the newest player on the treatment table. Eder Militao didn't start the last game against Girona, so he is likely to start this match. Marco Asensio could come into the starting XI after a couple of good substitute appearances. As for Celtic, Callum McGregor will be on the sidelines again. The visitors main job will be to keep Real Madrid's midfield in control. Vinicius Jr is going to be a big threat just like he was in the reverse fixture in Glasgow.
Real Madrid have hit a slump of bad performances ever since the international break. This is a good match to try and get things back on track with a comfortable win. Real Madrid are not taking their chances in the final third which is where the lack of a back-up striker is really hurting them. After this match, Real Madrid have only 2 games left before the World Cup and they need to win all of them.
