Real Madrid close in on Shakhtar Donetsk right-back Vinicius Tobias

(Football news) Real Madrid are closing in on 18-year old Brazilian Vinicius Tobias. He is currently under contract with Shakhtar Donetsk and plays right back. According to FIFA rules about players playing for Ukrainian clubs, Tobias can join Real Madrid for free and straight away. The player wouldn't have to wait until next season to join the club.

The right back situation is very interesting at Real Madrid. Dani Carvajal, the first choice right back, is injury prone and inconsistent. Lucas Vazquez is good to cover for him but is a natural winger. Nacho is another player who can play there but is often required to cover at left back. Carvajal has been a legend at Real Madrid and despite recent tough times the club has decided to back him. Real Madrid have been linked with right backs like Pedro Porro and Reece James but selling Carvajal has never even been rumoured.

Vinicius Tobias will most likely play for the Castilla team and will be asked to train with the first team once in a while. Alvaro Odriozola will be returning to Madrid after his loan period to add to the mix. If Tobias does impress in Madrid, he may be asked to stay and may even be called up for some games. The likelihood is that Los Blancos will send him on loan next season and then potentially get some money to make profit out of him. The Brazilian is one to look for the future but at the current stage at Real Madrid there looks to be no place for him. Even next season 2 of Real Madrid's 3 available right backs will have to be sold for him to be promoted to the first team.
