Newcastle set to complete club record €70m move for Alexander Isak

(Football news) Newcastle are set to complete their 4th signing of the season in the form of Alexander Isak. The fee is said to be around €70m which will be a club record for Newcastle. This is the Magpies’ first summer transfer window since the big money takeover but it hasn't been as luxurious as expected. Newcastle went all out in the January transfer window in an attempt to avoid relegation and ended up doing it quite comfortably. They have slowed down in the summer window but now a club record signing would make things very interesting. Newcastle are aiming to go to the next level and finish in the top half of the table. A European qualification and maybe a domestic cup title will be something that Eddie Howe will be eyeing.

Newcastle already have a striker in the form of Callum Wilson who has had a good start to the season. The Englishman has had some amazing periods at the club but injuries have prevented him from getting some consistency and Isak could be a long term option as he is just 22 years of age. The club is currently in a development phase and is ready to go to the next level and Isak is the player who is expected to be at the centre of it all. The Swedish striker has been performing consistently at Real Sociedad for over 3 years now. He caught the eye of the football world with his performance at the Euro 2020 and has been attracting interest from all over Europe. €70m could prove to be excess but that is the reality of the football market right now.

Nothing can take away from the fact that Isak is an incredible player who has bags of potential. The forward is technically gifted and is a striker who is really good in link up play. His goalscoring isn't that bad either but he is definitely not a poacher. The Swede scored only 6 goals in La Liga last season but got 17 the season before that. He definitely isn't the kind of player who would get you loads of goals but he will help his wingers get more. The idea of having Allan Saint-Maximin and Isak up front is something which looks extremely deadly on paper.
