MUST to demand answers from Man Utd board after nightmare start

(Football news) It has been the worst start for Manchester United in recent history with the 20 times champions of England currently in 20th place, rock bottom of the Premier League table after two games played and six goals conceded. It would have been unthinkable for Manchester United to be in the relegation zone, even after the debacle that followed when Sir Alex Ferguson retired but the club has undoubtedly reached a point where it can sink no lower and it’s hard not to think that something must give sooner rather than later.

Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) has said that they will “demand answers” from the club’s board after a “humiliatingly bad” start and want to see changes implemented as soon as possible to rectify the problems. MUST is one of the largest supporters groups in the world with 200,000 members and have also said that “unity really is paramount above all else" and "one united voice directed to the club and owners is needed more than ever". Erik ten Hag has become the first manager since John Chapman in 1921 to lose his opening two games at the club and the Dutch manager cancelled the team’s day off on Monday for an extra gruelling training session.

A statement issued by the Manchester United Supporters Trust read “We don’t usually comment on on-field matters, but felt that we should make an exception on this occasion. After the disaster-zone of last season, and the tumbleweed of the transfer window (so far!), hopes were not exactly high entering into this term. But we don’t think many people expected things to be quite so humiliatingly bad as they were on Saturday evening. As we’ve always said, a fish rots from the head. And the ultimate responsibility for the terrible state of our football club must lie with its owners, the Glazer family.

“It is now for them to explain to United fans just why we are in this state, and what they are going to do about it. We’ve had some difficult times in the last decade, but this really does feel like rock bottom. As we said in our statement on Saturday night, we as fans need to stick together. Unity is strength and one united voice directed to the club and owners is needed more than ever."
