Manchester United reach agreement with Feyenoord for Tyrell Malacia

(Football news) Manchester United have hijacked a deal for Tyrell Malacia after reaching an agreement with Feyenoord for the 22 year old left back. The Dutch player was on the verge of signing for Olympique Lyonnais but Manchester United offered more money for his services. Feyenoord director Frank Arnesen confirmed the agreement by saying The agreement with Man United is there. We are now waiting for Tyrell. If Malacia says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent".

During his time at Ajax, Erik ten Hag had heavily scouted Malacia and appreciates the players positional awareness, interception rate and his attacking prowess. Ironically, Malacia shares the same agency – HCM Sports Management as Frenkie De Jong, who has been heavily linked with Manchester United and is their prime transfer target for this summer. The Red Devils have Luke Shaw and Alex Telles in the left back position, which is why it’s surprising to see the club prioritize a position they have adequate cover in, rather than a striker or defensive midfielder.

According to a number of sources, Manchester United have put Alex Telles on the transfer market alongside Eric Bailly, Aaron Wan Bissaka, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe. Despite missing out on the last two months of the 2021/22 season, Luke Shaw is expected to retain his place in the squad and was a part of Erik ten Hag’s first training session at Carrington. Shaw is expected to remain the first choice left-back while Malacia acclimatizes to the Premier League and the 22 year old is expected to feature in the cup competitions in his inaugural season.
