(Football news) The clash between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park is between two teams that are desperate for three points in the Premier League. The Toffees are currently fighting for survival in the league while the Red Devils need three points to keep their Champions League hopes alive. Ralf Rangnick’s team are currently seventh, three points behind Tottenham Hotspur who are fourth.
In team news, Everton are without Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Tom Davies, Andros Townsend and Nathan Patterson while Donny Van De Beek is ineligible to play against his parent club. Frank Lampard’s side is boosted with the return of Michael Keane and Allan from suspension and they are expected to feature in the starting lineup. Seamus Coleman could also be back in the team at right back while Vitaliy Mykolenko could play at left back.
As for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is back in training for the club and is expected to feature in the starting lineup while Jesse Lingard seems to have also recovered from illness. Alex Telles is expected to feature in left back instead of Luke Shaw who suffered a leg injury last week. Anthony Elanga could be dropped to the bench in place of Marcus Rashford who could pair with Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in a front three. Despite it being a tight match, Manchester United should win this one considering that Everton have been in woeful form of late.
Chelsea will hope to avoid a third consecutive defeat when they take on Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium. Having recently lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League, Tuchel will want his team to bounce back and consolidate their place in the top 4. For the Blues, Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi remain unavailable due to injuries while Thiago Silva could be rested. Marcos Alonso, Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech are expected to feature in the starting lineup and Romelu Lukaku could also play if Havertz is rested.
As for the Saints, Lyanco is unavailable while Alex McCarthy might recover in time from his thigh issue. Adam Armstrong could feature in the starting lineup alongside Che Adams while Stuart Armstrong could also start the match. Despite both teams being in a sticky patch, Chelsea have enough quality to secure the three points from this fixture and return to winning ways.
Arsenal will welcome Brighton to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, hoping to secure the three points to remain as one of the favourites to get into the Champions League next season. The Gunners were recently humiliated 3-0 by Crystal Palace and will hope to overturn their fortunes this time around. For the Gunners, Kieran Tierney is unavailable as the Scottish player requires a knee surgery while Takehiro Tomiyasu is also ruled out. Thomas Partey is also doubtful for the fixture, which means Albert Sambi Lokonga might feature in the team.
As for Brighton, Adam Webster is unavailable for selection due to a groin injury while Moises Caicedo is back contention. Manager Graham Potter could look to start with Yves Bissouma as the partnership of Danny Welbeck and Maupay did not yield results against Norwich City. It can be said that the result at Selhurst Park was a one-off and the Gunners are expected to secure a comfortable three points in this fixture to get back into the top 4 of the Premier League.
