(Football news) According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Paul Pogba has ruled out a move to Manchester City and is instead interested in Juventus and PSG. The Frenchman's current contract with Manchester United runs out in June and a new one is not on the table anymore. Pogba has been out with injury for a while now and it looks like he won't be playing for United again. Despite the signing being for free, Pogba's wages and signing bonus will definitely be expensive.
Pogba's career looks to be going in full circle again. Coming through the ranks of the Manchester United academy, he couldn't break into the first team. After just 3 senior appearances, then Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson let him leave for free. Juventus took advantage and Pogba found success in Turin as he won a total 8 trophies and also played in a Champions League final. The midfielder also became a regular for the French national team during that period and won a number of individual accolades. After several links with a move away from Juventus, Manchester United paid a record €105 million to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford
Pogba has shown glimpses of quality in his 6 years with United but nowhere near enough. His time has been tormented by injuries and disciplinary issues. Actions outside the pitch including statements of agent Mino Raiola has strained his relationship with the fans. The midfielder had a major fallout with Jose Mourinho which was the start of his downfall. His biggest criticism at the club has been his workrate which is said to be not upto Premier League standards. Manchester United are losing him for free but it will be a big chunk out of the wage bill. The Red Devils have been linked with Frenkie De Jong among others to replace Pogba but the absence of Champions League football will be a big obstacle.
Now, Pogba is linked with a free transfer to Juventus for the 2nd time in his career while PSG is another club who is reportedly interested. Real Madrid have been linked with Pogba in the past and right now the player seems to want a move to Spain but Los Blancos have enough options in midfield. PSG players have been under heavy scrutiny due to their lack of work rate and Pogba is another player who is known for his lack of effort. The next season is going to be very crucial in Pogba's career wherever he goes. After a tough spell with Manchester United he has a lot of critics to answer. There is also a World Cup coming up which is another opportunity for him but he will have to book his place in the squad for that which will only happen if he performs at his next club.
