Carlo Ancelotti becomes the 7th manager to reach 100 competitive wins with Real Madrid

(Football news) Real Madrid held on to a narrow 2-1 win at home against Rayo Vallecano. Goals from Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema were enough to secure 3 points for Los Blancos. The victory was very important as it was the last game before the international break. As for manager Carlo Ancelotti, it got him to a rare milestone.

The Italian manager reached 100 wins in charge of Real Madrid. He became only the 7th man after Miguel Munoz (357), Zinedine Zidane (174), Vicente del Bosque (133), Jose Mourinho (128), Leo Beenhakker (121) and Luis Molowny to achieve this feat. Ancelotti also has a win percentage of 73.88 which is the 2nd highest in the history of Real Madrid.

In his first spell, Ancelotti won the Copa del Rey and ended Real Madrid's 12 year long wait for the La Decima (10th Champions League trophy). He delivered the double in his first year in Madrid (2013/14) and missed out on the league by just 3 points. In 2014/15 Real Madrid won the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. Madrid lost the UCL semi final against Juventus and missed out on the league by 2 points. They also lost the Copa del Rey round of 16 match to Atlético Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti was sacked after the season ended and was replaced by Rafa Benitez.

Now in 2021 Ancelotti has returned to a different Real Madrid, one without Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Italian manager has had a decent start to the season with 11 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses in 15 games so far this season. There is still a long way to go for Ancelotti but he has successfully done a few things already. He has managed to get the best out of Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid post Varane and Ramos' defence has also been good under Ancelotti for which he must be credited.

Now Real Madrid will enter a crucial period and as history tells us things can change very quickly at the club due to their high demands. No matter what happens in the future, Ancelotti will always be a legend at Real Madrid as he will always be remembered as the manager who gave Real Madrid the La Decima.
