Muller opened the scoring, tapping in on the rebound in the seventh minute after keeper Koen Casteels had parried a Serge Gnabry shot into his path. He then assisted Dayot Upamecano with a clever chip who then headed in their second goal in the 57th before Leroy Sane curled a superb shot into the top far corner two minutes later to put the final nail in the coffin. In the dying minutes, Lewandowski did not miss from close range to hand Wolfsburg their fourth consecutive league loss and their seventh straight defeat in all competitions. Lewandowski has now scored 19 goals in the bundesliga  which is two more than the entire Wolfsburg team this season.

Robert Lewandowski keeps breaking records for fun this year, as he broke Gerd Muller’s 50 year record for the most goals in a calendar year in the Bundesliga. This year, Lewandowski has scored a staggering 43 goals in the Bundesliga and 69 goals in all competitions, equalling Cristiano Ronaldo’s highest goal scoring tally in a calendar year. This season, Lewandowski already has 19 goals in 16 matches and is already out scoring teams in the Bundesliga. He is also the Bundesliga’s second highest goalscorer with 296 goals, only behind Gred Muller’s record of 365 goals. Thomas Muller also created a Bundesliga record by marking  his 400th Bundesliga appearance and scoring his 222nd league goal. .

Nagelsmann after the match said “There were many games recently where the first half was somewhat more difficult. The beginning phase was good, but then we got bogged down. Then we had luck — or a good keeper — maybe a mix of both. In the second half, we played strong. The goals were then played beautifully. I was extremely happy. It was a wonderful goal that has to be scored that way. Lewy made a great play. The Bundesliga Hinrunde is very, very satisfactory. Also today, you have to shoot so many goals against a compact, rear-standing opponent. We had very good control and in the second half we pressed better. We didn’t let the opponent pass the midfield line. The key in the second half was Gegenpressing — there we won more balls and had more phases of possession where the opponent was set deep. From there, we didn’t allow them to come out of it.”
