(Football news) Bayern suffered a shock defeat against relegation-threatened VFL Bochum as the Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich slipped to a shock 4-2 defeat to VfL Bochum on Saturday after they conceded all of their four goals in the first half. Bayern had already scored a record 68 goals this Bundesliga season as it was putting them on course for an all-time best goal return tally. Bayern took the lead in the ninth minute when Robert Lewandowski scored his 25th league goal of the season to set the reigning champions on course for another easy victory. Christopher Antwi-Adjei's superb equaliser five minutes later got Bochum right back into the game, before Juergen Locadia's 38th-minute penalty turned the match upside down.
Cristian Gamboa then further piled on their misery as he arrowed an unstoppable strike into the top corner two minutes from their second goal. Gerrit Holtmann put the icing on the cake as he curled another fine goal into the net right on the cusp of halftime.Lewandowski did score again for his 26 goal of the season 15 minutes from time, but it was too little too late for Bayern. The defeat was just Bayern's fourth league defeat of the season but subsequently it does not affect their position too much in the league as they are nine points clear at the top of the standings as they are on course for a record-extending 10th successive league title
Dortmund bounced back after their embarrassing loss as they won 3-0 against a very good Union Berlin side. Borussia Dortmund closed the gap on leaders Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga to six points after Marco Reus' double inspired a very motivating victory especially for the Dortmund fans. Dortmund top goalscorer Erling Haaland was out through injury as captain Reus took up the scoring mantle and settled Dortmund nerves especially in the aftermath of the 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen last time out, by drilling a crisp shot to put them in front in the 18th minute. Reus then added a second for Dortmund as he firmly put them under control in the match, Reus rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home the second. Dortmund maintained control for the majority of the second half before Raphael Guerreiro poked home a late third to make sure of the three points.
