Arsenal interested in Jesus amid Haaland to Manchester City rumours

(Football news) The title race is heating up in England as Manchester City and Liverpool are neck to neck in the points table. Manchester City kept their place at the top with a win over Watford at the weekend. City won 5-1 at the Etihad as Gabriel Jesus scored 4 goals and provided an assist for Rodri. His incredible performance came days after reports linking the Brazilian with a move to Arsenal. The 23-year old has a contract with Manchester City until 2023 which means that getting him in the summer of 2022 wouldn't cost a lot of money.

Manchester City tried to sign Harry Kane last season but Tottenham Hotspur refused to negotiate. Now City have reportedly agreed a deal to bring Erling Haaland to the Etihad in the summer. Haaland to City rumours are intensifying as Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said that Haaland's move to England wouldn't surprise him. Gabriel Jesus is set to be one of the players to make way for the Norwegian. Arsenal have understandably shown interest in Jesus. After the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, the Gunners have Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as number 9s. Both the players are out of contract in the summer and are expected to leave. Arsenal desperately need a striker or two and even though Jesus isn't a pure number 9, he certainly fits the demands.

Arteta is known to favour young and energetic players who have a high workrate. Gabriel Jesus is all that and more as he has displayed in the 5 years he has been in the Premier League. The Brazilian joined Manchester City from Palmeiras as a 20 year old in 2017 and has since scored 57 goals in all competitions from 155 games. Jesus would be a perfect partner for Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith-Rowe and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli. The most important thing for Arsenal right now is UCL qualification. Jesus might reject the Gunners if they fail to qualify for the UCL. The north londoners are currently in 4th position with 5 games left to play.
