After watching his Barcelona squad defeat Real Mallorca 5-1, Hansi Flick acknowledged that he is not entirely satisfied with the current offside system.
Under Flick, the Catalans are playing a very high line, which frequently results in goals being disallowed for offside a while after the offense has taken place.
Flick told reporters after the game that he dislikes it when offside is not whistled when it is an obvious call. The same thing happened against Mallorca on Tuesday.
“The quantity of offsides Mallorca committed is irrelevant to me. He remarked, “I never look at the statistics.”
“I don’t see why my players must sprint back in certain instances when the offside is five meters clear, straining themselves needlessly. It doesn’t make sense.
“I can understand allowing play to continue when there is uncertainty, but I don’t think it makes sense if it is obvious. I don’t comprehend it.
Flick’s argument makes sense, especially considering that players are also at risk of getting hurt while chasing back and being pushed into situations that might not be necessary in the end.
