(Cricket news) The Ireland Men’s Under-19s World Cup squad won’t be able to travel to the US later this month for a planned three-match series against USA Under-19s Men. Both Cricket Ireland and USA Cricket are in talks to play the matches at a different venue.
The Irish team was due to travel to Florida in December end as part of getting ready for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in January, to be held in the Caribbean. Current travel restrictions and logistical issues have now made difficulties for the Irish Under-19s to be able to travel via the USA, and then onward travel to the Caribbean in time for the event.
The two boards, in connection with the ICC, have made the decision to cancel the upcoming series in Florida, however, both boards are actively exploring the opportunity of playing the series at a new venue in the Caribbean in late December/early January. An update is expected to be made within the next 7-10 days.
Senior Men’s series proceeding
The senior series between US Men and Ireland Men in Florida will go on as planned and going ahead with tickets on sale online now in advance of the historic five-match series between the two nations. USA will be announcing their teams for the T20 International and One Day International formats later this week.
